About the Author
Pavel Jan
Dr. Jan Pavel graduated from the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the University of Amsterdam (1996-2002). This study included a one-year stay at the University of Bologna, Italy. In addition, from 2004 to 2009 he studied social psychology with a focus on sport psychology at the University of Amsterdam. He has been active in tennis, was director and owner of the &Tennis school and in 2010 was named the best tennis coach of the year in the Netherlands. He then joined the staff of the Royal Dutch Tennis Association, where among other things he was involved in teaching and testing tennis coaches from basic to international level (international top coach). In 2018, he was offered the position of manager at the Netherlands Olympic Committee of the Netherlands Sports Federation (NOCNSF), where he leads all projects related to the search and development of top sporting talent in the Topsport department. He is a regular contributor to the Dutch Tennis Magazine, and has co-authored 4 books (in Dutch) on the mental preparation of tennis players.
Pavlova Alena
MUDr. Alena Pavlová-Havlová graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine at Charles University in Prague (1963-1969) and from 1969 to 1981 worked at the III. Internal Medicine Clinic of the University Hospital 2 in Prague. After obtaining her second degree in internal medicine, she was also an employee of the Institute for Doctors' Training and a doctor at the Orthopaedic Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague. Since 1981 she has been working as a doctor in the Netherlands. In her childhood she was intensively involved in ballet and tap, later in athletics and especially in tennis. As a teenager, together with Jan Kodes, she was a member of the mixed tennis team of Spartak Motorlet, which was repeatedly champion of Czechoslovakia. In the Netherlands she continued her tennis activity and later played golf actively. In both sports she participated in senior championships, in tennis and international tournaments, and coached young tennis players. She lives alternately in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
