ATP Nutrition Beta Alanin 300 g
The amino acid Beta-alanine.
ATP Nutrition Beta Alanin 300 g - Product description
Beta-alanine is an amino acid found in muscle cells in the form of carnosine. It naturally prevents the acidification of cells that is caused by the formation of lactate during physical activity. Regular use of beta-alanine increases the concentration of carnosine in muscle tissue. Thanks to the added anti-caking agents, the product is resistant to hardening caused by air moisture uptake.
Increase in muscle carnosine levels by up to 80%
Beta-alanine is the body's own substance that combines with l-histidine in the muscle cell to form a dipeptide known as carnosine. This acts as a chemical buffer, preventing the rapid acidification of the muscle cell that leads to the inability to continue muscle work known as "muscle stiffness".
Studies show that the limiting factor for carnosine production in muscle is the availability of beta-alanine. When supplementation is properly adjusted, muscle carnosine levels increase by an average of 15 to 55%, and some studies suggest that carnosine levels can be increased by up to 80% after 10 weeks of 4-6 g of beta-alanine per day.
Supporting performances of 1-4 minutes duration
Beta-alanine supplementation is suitable for supporting anaerobic performance that lasts between 1-4 minutes of continuous exercise. While performances longer than 4 minutes are already largely aerobic in nature, maximal physical activity of up to 1 minute (sprints, strength performances) is not limited by over-acidification of muscle cells.
The use of beta-alanine is therefore suitable for players of team sports, combat athletes, runners, swimmers, cyclists or rowers who race over distances falling within the time range of 1-4 minutes.
Take 4-6 g per day continuously for at least 4 weeks
Beta-alanine is taken in a total daily amount of 4-6 g, which should be divided into 2-4 doses throughout the day. Continuous use for at least 4 weeks is key, ideally 8-10 weeks for higher muscle cell carnosine saturation. A single intake of beta-alanine has virtually no effect on physical performance.
A typical feature of beta-alanine use is the so-called "tingling" of the skin, which is probably due to the influence of MrgD receptors that have endings in the skin. This effect may be sensationally unpleasant but poses no health risks.
