Pure marine collagen is made from wild cod and is hydrolysed into small collagen peptides. These have a molecular weight of only 3 kDA (kilodaltons), so they are optimally absorbed and used by the body. In addition, marine collagen is absorbed by the body up to 1.5 times more efficiently than collagen from mammals.

Seagarden pure marine collagen is made from cod skin from cod living wild in the Norwegian and Barents Seas. These remote northern sea areas are far from the main shipping lanes, keeping them clean and full of nutrients. In addition, cod travel each winter between the Barents Sea, where they grow up, and the Norwegian Sea, where they breed. This keeps them on the move and gives them firm, clean muscle mass with perfect texture and quality. Seeagarden collagen does not come from cod living in artificial tanks.

Collagen is a natural part of the body. It is a protein found in connective tissue and skin, and is an important part of joints and tendons. Skin is composed of 80% type I collagen and approximately 15% type III collagen. With age, the body's ability to renew collagen decreases by approximately 2% each year. It is therefore advisable to supplement collagen to support an active lifestyle and appearance.

In the supplement, vitamin C is added in a natural form - the juice of two species of acerola - for an enhanced effect. This plant (otherwise known as malpighia) is one of the most potent sources of natural vitamin C in the world. Fresh and natural ingredients

Most of the fish that Seagarden uses to make its accessories is caught in the crystal clear waters of the Norwegian Sea by fishermen from the city of Tromso and the village of Senjahopen in northern Norway. Every winter a miracle happens there. The cod returns from the icy waters of the Barents Sea to its original breeding grounds off the northern Norwegian coast. Thanks to our hunting and fishing roots, we know that we must play on a team with nature, not against it. We actively work towards minimal carbon emissions during production, transportation and packaging. 95% of our raw materials are produced in Norway, so we both have control over the processing of the raw materials and ensure short transport distances. Marine collagen, which is Seagarden's flagship product, is MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certified which is a guarantee that the fish comes from sustainable fisheries. Seagarden is also a partner in the EU-funded Aquabiopro-fit project, which aims to reduce waste and make meaningful use of fishery by-products.

Careful production

The cod skin, which is the main raw material for the production of collagen, is first carefully washed with clean water. Each shipment is also tested for more than 20 unwanted additives and contaminants, both in-house at Seagarden and in independent laboratories. This ensures that only 100% pure natural products leave production. At Seagarden, we are also constantly looking for ingredients and technologies that help us produce products in the most gentle and natural ways possible.
