The book is intended for active sportsmen, coaches, trainers, instructors and advisors in fitness and bodybuilding to facilitate their orientation in matters related to nutrition, drinking and supplementation in sports and especially in fitness and wellness activities.
The authors have tried to explain in the simplest possible way the basic nutritional rules that apply especially to active individuals. The text, which respects the general nutritional recommendations, including the so-called food pyramids, focuses in particular on the rules for creating a sports diet from foods in the general market basket. It recommends the targeted use of dietary supplements for the general population and athletes where justified. It explains the irreplaceable role of drinking in sport and fitness, which is often underestimated. An appendix section with summaries, tables, recipes and review questions will especially help the reader to learn the principles of healthy eating leading to good physical fitness, which is the authors' main desire and goal.
About the Author
Mach Ivan
As a senior research and development officer, he has worked in many departments in the chemical and food industries. Since the 1970s he has been involved in nutritional consulting and professional sports and dietetic journalism. He is the author of many titles, translations, professional publications and lectures on nutrition, and has been the nutrition editor of the professional magazine Musclee&Fitness since its inception. In the 1980s he served as chairman of the Committee of the Bodybuilding Federation of the Czechoslovak Sports Council, as a referee, coach and manager of top athletes. Now he is a lecturer of a number of educational courses, an expert guarantor of the accredited course Nutris(r) and lectures on nutrition at the 1st Medical Faculty of the UK, FSS of Masaryk University in Brno and the University of Palestra. He is the President of the Alliance of Nutrition Consultants of the Czech Republic and has been appointed as a court expert in the field of nutrition.
Borkovec Jiří
As the youngest Czech in history, he became the World and Mr. Universe champion in bodybuilding. He is the author of many articles, lectures and seminars on nutrition and training methodology. He is a contributor to the professional fitness and healthy lifestyle magazine Muscle & Fitness and a lecturer at NutrisR. He is now the owner of Bodyflex Fitness, where he also works as a nutritionist and personal trainer.
